    Memorable E-mails

I was looking at some of my email folders today to find something work related, and I just happened to click on a folder I have labeled “Memorable Emails.” It is composed of what I consider the funniest, strangest, angriest, painful, over-the-top or just plain odd emails I have received in the past 10 years. Even if I’m reading a really angry email (for the first time), I’m also thinking, “I need to move this to the Memorable Emails folder ASAP.” As a more light-hearted example, the first one in there (and the reason I created the folder) was from an old roommate about the time we were packing our…

    Nap Time

I used to take a nap almost every day. While it sounds luxurious, it was mostly due to insomnia during the night and exhaustion during the day–so not that cute. But it was so restorative. There was a zombie-like feeling that took about an hour or so to shake off, but even that I loved. In a world where I am easily confused about how to spend my time, napping is the best bet always. “Nap when the baby naps.” I’m not sure anyone said this out loud to me, but I must have read it at least a dozen times–which is saying a lot considering I gave up reading…

    Inspiration to Run

Happy Veteran’s Day! I have no students today, so I can stick to my goal of a new post a day. And today, I’ll get my running blog out of the way at the very beginning of this writing streak. Just for reference, I started running a little over 20 years ago. I never really stopped (minus a stress fracture and having a baby, which forced me out for a bit), but as with any long term fitness routine–there are ups and downs, shifts, new discoveries, injuries, boredom, frustration, PRs, good days, bad days, good years, bad years, etc. And for me, ever since I started doing triathlons (10 years…

    Staycation

I decided very last minute to get out of L.A. for the weekend, so we are here in Huntington Beach. It’s only about an hour away from where we live, but it’s really close to our favorite (DOG) beach. The room has an ocean view, which I am looking at right now. There is a huge hotel pool with a bar that allows dogs, which I’ve never heard of–so it was great lounging around the pool with Huxley instead of being stuck in the room with him. Let me sing the praises of a staycation. If I had the money, I would do this at least once a month. When…

    An entry every day.

I am going to do my best to write an entry every day until the end of the year. I did this once before, and I ran out of things to say. This was an amazing feeling. I love to write, but I don’t have much these days. I’m going to try to stop by here everyday for my own good–my own self care. I hope you stop by, too. The other day I was thinking about how I could basically just write these entries on Facebook or Instagram. Who knows, maybe I can even get FOLLOWERS? I was thinking about how blogs are not a real thing anymore, but…

Hermosa Beach Triathlon 2019 Race Report…5 months late.

I don’t know if I even remember anything about this race anymore, but I promised this write up in my last blog & so I give the fans WHAT THEY WANT. I will keep this short with my main take-aways. I zipped my new wetsuit up all by myself! This is progress. I don’t know if I lost a pound or I gained some kind of new flexibility & was able to shrink myself–but it happened. Honestly, I blame Kenzy and what she did to my ribcage. It feels bigger. I was cool, calm and collected during this short swim! I highly recommend this race to newbie racers who are…
